The SKU hold regular courses, squad training’s and championships for license holding members to train together with members from other clubs who are of a similar level of expertise. The training courses are designed to be both enjoyable and informative under the supervision of the SKU chief instructor.
Brown Belt Courses
The courses are for members of all ages of grade 3rd Kyu and above. Training
is aimed at improving brown belts to black belt level and giving an insight
in to instructor training.
Cost of course £6.00
Black Belt Courses
The courses are for members of all ages of grade 1st Dan and above. Training
is aimed at the 2nd Dan and above syllabus and giving an insight in to
instructor training and advice on how to run your own club.

Instructors Courses
For club instructors and assistant instructors (3rd Kyu and above) aged 18
years and over.
The courses are aimed at keeping instructors informed of any new developments,
standardization of teaching and providing an opportunity for instructors
to train together and exchange ideas.

Annual Gashuku
This weeklong course to be held in San Antonio Ibiza is for adults aged 18
years and above of grade (6th Kyu) green belt and above. All aspects of
Karate training are covered during the week and there are four hours per
day compulsory

Insurance NOT included.
Referees Courses
These 4-hour courses involve reading through the rulebook with the chief
referee. A question and answer session where participants clarify with
the Chief Referee
any points they are unsure about. For those who want to qualify as a judge
or referee there is also a written examination. The examination is a simple
format question paper, mostly giving a choice of answers which participants
tick whichever they feel is the correct answer. The course is open to 2nd
Kyu and above aged 16 years and above. Rulebooks have to be purchased in
advance
of the course and it is advisable to fully read the book prior to the course.
Participants must attend the course smartly dressed in collar and tie, white
shirt and blazer and slacks or similar attire. Cost of course £20.00
Kumite
and Kata Squad training’s
The squad trainings are for members aged 10 years and above of grade 4th
Kyu and above. The aim of the squads is to provide competition Kumite and
Kata
training for members and to select individuals and teams for competitions.

How to enroll for courses
For all the above courses except the referees and Gashuku, you enroll by
attending on the day with your SKU licence.
For the Referees courses enrolment forms should be completed and posted
with payment (cheques payable to SKU) to SKU Chief Referee 82 Somerset
Road Manchester
