Dan Grading Results - May 2013On Sunday 19th May the SKU National Dan Grading was held at the EIS in Sheffield. Sensei Stan Knighton 9th Dan presided over the grading along with panel members Sensei Mo Ilyas 7th Dan and Sensei Craig Murphy 6th Dan SKU General Secretary.
The newly promoted members were presented with their SKU logo black belts and certificates by Sensei Knighton. Congratulations to everyone.

SKU National Kata & Kumite Championships Results
What a great day of Kata and Kumite displays from SKU Karate-ka at the EIS in Sheffield on Sunday 21st April.
Many thanks to all the referees who attended to ensure the event ran smoothly and congratulations to Chief Referee Sensei Damien Mc Laughlin 7th Dan and competition organiser Sensei Craig Murphy 6th Dan for their excellent organisation on the day.

May NewsCongratulations to Sensei Damien McLaughlin who was promoted to 8th Dan at the Annual Instructors course and 44th AGM on Sunday 5th May. A well deserved promotion that received a huge round of applause by all present.

Competition Results - AMACongratulations to the following SKU members who won medals at the recent AMA international competition in Sheffield on the 16th & 17th February
Josh Dawson - Bronze (under 75kgs 14-15 yrs boys) Rob Yorke - Bronze (under 70kgs seniors) Sam Winkley - Silver (under 75kgs 15-17 yrs boys)
Bronze in the team Shobu Ippon (Rob Yorke, Sam Winkley, Michael Simms)
and also a very well done to our Chief Referee Sensei Damien McLaughlin who was awarded a trophy for best Kumite official at the competition

The SKU National Kata & Kumite championships will take place on Sunday 21st April in Sheffield at the EIS. See your club Instructors if you wish to enter. Open to Red belt & above for kata and Green belt and above, 8 years upwards for Kumite.
