Dan grading information
There are two Dan gradings per year usually in May and November. There is a pool of Dan grading officers all of who are a minimum grade of 6th Dan. All Dan gradings have a panel of three Dan grading officers.
The Dan grading syllabus is covered on the Area courses so that members who are due for Dan grading can clarify with the chief instructor and other Dan grading panel members exactly what they are expected to do on their grading.
Also before the Dan grading there is a Pre-Dan grading practise course for those people who have booked to take the grading See the SKU calendar page for dates and venues of courses.
The current Dan grading panel consists of:
Sensei Stan Knighton 10th Dan, Sensei Damien Mc Laughlin 8th Dan, Sensei Dave Bowler 8th Dan, Sensei Mo Ilyas 7th Dan, Sensei Craig Murphy 7th Dan, Sensei John Scott 7th Dan & Sensei Julian Tan 7th Dan
